| Flowers: | Small straw coloured branched flowerheads. Scattered or clustered flowers; 3-6 stamens. Main bract continues above flowers for 22 cm. Capsules light with golden brown top, as long or longer than flowers. November-January |
| General Comments: | Tufted perennial rush spreading from underground stems. Erect wiry, grey to bluish-green stems to 2.5mm diam. with strongly raised ridges. Pith interrupted with variable air spaces. Moist areas within the garden, tolerating drying out for a short time. Frog Habitat, birds like the seeds. |
