Foliage:Leaves divided into 3 crinkly, roundish blue-green leaflets 6-35 mm x 6-35 mm, hairy below, tips often notched. Heart-shaped stipules at base of leaves.
Flowers:1-2 scarlet pea flowers on long stalks, along branches. Downy pods to 50 mm long. April-December,
General
Comments:
Open to dense trailing or matting shrub, young growth hairy. Attractive ground cover with well displayed flowers. Useful on embankments, in hanging baskets or trailing over large planters. Pruning is beneficial. Tolerates dry soils once established. Tolerates light frosts. Birds like the nectar and the insects it attracts. Both food for caterpillars and nectar for butterflies.
