General Comments: | Fast growing plant for moist areas. Useful beside pools and wet areas where it provides a brilliant display in flower. Weeping form enhances pond background. Adaptable to drier conditions if it receives summer watering. Adaptable to a range of situations, including poorly drained soils. Tolerates salt & lime. A fast-growing slender erect shrub with pendulous branches. A hardy shrub which is most attractive when in flower which draws attention to its graceful weeping habit. Can be short lived. Native broom is a fast-growing plant in the garden, but can lose vigor once about 5 or 10 years old. It prefers an acidic to neutral soil with ample moisture and is hardy to temperatures of −4 °C. Plants grown from seed are sturdier than cutting-grown specimens. |

Plant Propagation: | Seed sets in plenty, one small bean per pod, and this is an easy means of propagation. Seed requires pre-treatment. Pour boiling water over seed and let soak 24 hours. Sow into propagating containers in seed raising mix 3:1 Perlite:Peat and lightly covered. They should be keep moist in a warm well it area out of direct sunlight. Drench seed with a fungicide to prevent "damping off". |
